SINGAPORE -- Singapore's health ministry has confirmed the country's first swine flu-related death, a 49-year-old pneumonia patient who suffered a heart attack.

The ministry said the patient, who had diabetes and high blood pressure, was admitted to Changi General Hospital on Thursday with flu-like symptoms and was diagnosed with swine flu.

It said he died Saturday afternoon of a heart attack, contributed to by severe pneumonia and an underlying swine flu infection.
